It has been very quiet on the blogging front. No updates on the regular blogs I have been following and no updates on mine either. I am going to go ahead and assume that everyone is busy either with last minute GMAT preps, brainstorming essay content or actually writing the essays!
The deadlines for R1 are getting closer and my excitement is increasing every day. I can't wait for the day when I actually hit the submit buttons for my favorite schools :). Of course, there will be some way to go even after that but the applications represent the pulling together of various components and is a big milestone to have completed.
My essays are well under way and in fact today I completed the first drafts for two schools. They are still some way from being submit-ready but I am quite happy with the content overall; they just need some more trimming and polishing. However, I am anxious whether I am going too fast - one essay per day on an average; if I am royally screwing up the essays then I hope I catch myself during my review weeks. Of course, it helps that I have always been an introspective person and had an easy time "data-mining" my life. Do not even think of starting the essays unless you have done this.
The best advice I can "retweet" at this point is to take up one school at a time and completely immerse yourself in it for 7-10 days. Not even opening the website of another school or reading about one. Live and breathe only that school for that period and behave as if you have actually gotten in! :)
So, to restate, my essay strategy is:
For every schools
A. 2 Days for intensive research
B. 7 Days for completing essays to a 95% level (It should be in a stage where if for some reason you had to submit in a seconds notice, you could)
C. Go to next school
D. After all schools, come back and give 5-7 days to each school completely reviewing the entire application.
